Calm Waters Hosts FREE Online Workshop to Address Grief and Loss During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Oklahoma City, OK – Calm Waters Center for Children and Families, the only grief center in Central Oklahoma offering free grief support services to children and families, will host a free online workshop, “Grief and Loss During COVID-19” on Friday, April 3, 10 to 11 a.m. to address how the whole family can grieve and build resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Right now, grieving families face greater risks of social isolation, and we do not want their grief to be minimized or forgotten during this global health crisis,” said Heather Warfield, LMFT, Calm Waters’ Program Director. “It is so important to remain emotionally connected during physical distancing, yet the toll of sheltering in place, fears about spreading or getting the virus, and job and education disruption, just compounds each person’s grief journey.”

The April 3 workshop, led by Warfield and Jordan Park, LMFT-Candidate and Calm Waters’ Assistant Program Director, will discuss the grief journey during the COVID-19 pandemic and how individuals can be proactive with new coping skills inspired by the work of psychologist J. William Worden.

Worden’s Four Tasks of Mourning provides a framework to help the healing of a grief journey as the four tasks are addressed in no specific order, at times going back and forth from one task to another.

Register online by April 2 at www.calmwaters.org/grief-workshop.
