Calm Waters Offers Free Virtual Parent Workshop to Fight Family Burnout During the Pandemic
Parents to learn 3 strategies to help children talk and process their emotions of grief
Oklahoma City, OK, September 22—Calm Waters Center for Children and Families, the only grief center in Oklahoma offering free grief support services to children and families, is offering “Fighting Family Burnout During a Pandemic,” a FREE virtual workshop for parents, sponsored by MetroFamily Magazine, on Monday, September 28, 11 a.m.
“After months of togetherness at home, parents are beginning to feel overwhelmed and exhausted, struggling to take care of themselves and their children, especially now that kids are back to school,” said Heather Warfield, LMFT, Calm Waters’ Program Director. “Families are experiencing collective grief, mourning the loss of the routines they once had, and what they had expected for their child’s school year.”
The September 28 workshop, led by Warfield and Jordan Park, LMFT-candidate and Calm Waters’ Assistant Program Director, will teach parents healthy ways to cope during drastic daily changes due to COVID-19 and three strategies to help children talk and process their emotions of grief.
The COVID-19 pandemic has left families yearning for days of the past when children were able to safely attend school and other activities with their friends and in their communities. Gone are the days parents were able to focus on being parents without also being a teacher. This stress and loss of normalcy has created an environment where families are mourning their old roles, rituals, and routines.
Registration is open until Monday, September 28, at 8 a.m. at https://www.calmwaters.org/fighting-family-burnout-during-a-pandemic-virtual-workshop/
