At Calm Waters, volunteers are the backbone of our organization.
Volunteers have the option to serve in several capacities including leading support groups, assisting at special events or performing administrative duties.
Calm Waters’ volunteers come from all walks of life but share a sincere desire in helping the families we serve, heal.

Support Group Leader
Co-facilitating a Calm Waters support group is an immensely rewarding experience that can foster healing change in the lives of others.
Our support group facilitators work with children ages 3-18 years of age and their guardians. A supervisor remains on-site while group sessions occur.
Training is required before a potential Support Group Leader may begin facilitating support groups.
Our next 2019 volunteer facilitator training opportunity is:
Group Facilitator Training, Part 1
Option 1: Wednesday, July 10, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Option 2: Tuesday, July 16, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Group Facilitator Training, Part 2
Option 1: Thursday, July 11, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Option 2: Wednesday, July 17, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer support group facilitator, please complete the volunteer application found here. An interview, two references and an OSBI background check are required.

Corporate and Restaurant Partnerships
At the completion of a grief support group, we celebrate our participants and the journey they have been on with dinner. We are always looking for community-minded restaurant groups and companies willing to host an appreciation dinner for participants. Hosting a dinner includes providing food for 50 individuals. If you are interested in hosting a Group dinner, contact Emily R. Tate at emily@Calmwaters.org.
